This year, Field Day will be held on June 22-23. The event begins at 1PM, local time, and runs for 24 hours. The Jamestown Amateur Radio club plans to set up for Field Day at Joos Grove. The park is located on the east side of Jamestown Reservoir. You can take East Lakeside Road north, past the marina, to the top of the hill. Alternatively, you can follow HWY 20 north, out of Jamestown. Then turn left on 32nd St. SE.
This event is open to the public and everybody is encouraged to attend. Visitors are welcome to observe from 1PM to 7PM on Saturday, June 22nd.
At this time, we are planning on running two stations for the duration of the event. If any other licensed operators are interested in setting up a station, please let us know, and we can change the plans to accommodate you. We will need to know this, before the start of Field Day, so that we can set things up with the correct category.
During Field Day, all of the stations that can simultaneously transmit must be located within a 1000 foot area. Joos Grove gives us plenty of different opportunities for station set ups, while remaining within the 1000 foot circle.
Last year, we were able to make 194 contacts, with a total of three stations. This year, we hope to exceed that number.
